SoccermaniaSeems like I've been haunted with this for most of my life. From the time when I was still young and green (literally - decked out in TKGS gear), and lured into placing bets with friends over World Cup matches... ... to Melbourne days when I'd find myself in front of the TV, stuck with the duty of SMS'ing every goal, coloured card or kick(corner, side, free, whatever) to overeager fans... ... to now, when I'm back in Singapore - and still suffering every weekend, when my brother and his mates will crowd the living room, aflame in red jerseys and yelling at the poor TV. And half the time, I'll find myself plopped in front of the TV with these people too, staring glass-eyed at the idiot box - watching big men chase a ball around a field. Often breaking limbs and tearing muscles in the process. But oh - what fine men does this sport attract. :) Erm - on the tv, I mean. Not those that I've described above. Deary me, the beatific grin on Mark Owen's face when he scored the goal at the 90th minute in the game against Chelsea tonight - man, my heart melted a little inside. Good thing my brother's joyous howls drowned out my happy sigh... along with any other sounds within a 500-m radius, I'd imagine. And as long as they keep producing fine male specimens like David Beckham (yum), I'll happily sing along to "Love United" with any other crazed soccer fan (tho' this song has been spoiled for me for certain weird reasons)! =) I mean... just look at him!
