Nerd siging in...

Heya, pardon my hiatus in this blogging... I'm just like that. :P In fact, I can't even say that I'll be more regular - cuz I prolly won't. ;)

But that might be a blessing of sorts, seeing how long my blog posts can be. :P I'm working on it, damnit...

Seeing how I can't sort my thoughts properly tonight, I'll tell you some luverly useless info right now. That will be good, aye?

K, here goes:

Ever wanted to know the longest English word? If you were like me, living under the illusion that "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" is the longest existing English word - then we're so obviously yesterday.

Either that, or you could be like me, and just fake profound knowledge in facts like these, without doing proper research.

And of course, there is the slightly remote possibility that you never once turned your mind to questions like these. But if you fall within this category, don't worry - I won't let anyone know how mundane you are. :)

Anyway, I digress. This blog was made with the initial purpose of showing off the fact that I have done research into this k. And now, I can let you all know this highly important piece of info:

PNEUMONOULTRAMICROSCOPICSILICOVOLCANOCONIOSIS (45 letters; a lung disease caused by breathing in certain particles) is the longest word in any English-language dictionary.

In fact, there's a convenient little table for this. (Tho' you can kindly ignore the very telling fact that its domain name is "nerdparadise". :P)

And if you're already impressed by this (if you're not, don't bother to say anything), wait till you hear bout the longest name for a place.

LLANFAIRPWLLGWYNGYLL-
GOGERYCHWYRNDROBWLLLLANTYSILIOGOGOGOCH
is according to one source the longest placename in the world, with 58 letters. It is a town in North Wales meaning "St. Mary's Church in the hollow of the white hazel near to the rapid whirlpool of Llantysilio of the red cave" or "St. Mary's (Church) by the white aspen over the whirlpool, and St. Tysilio's (Church) by the red cave" in Welsh.

Imagine the natives filling in the 'place of birth' section in forms. I'd like that stamp in my passport...

Hey, in case you're wondering, I'm not the only oddball out there k. :P This started out from a conversation with Jensen, and he told me most of these (which got me started surfing through the web for info). And 'parently he discussed this with Jeff before too. So there're more such people out there. ;)

I sometimes think that I have too much time in my hands though. *grin*
